Built on research. With a dash of irreverence.
This quiz keys off behavioral patterns that matter in Stranger Things: how you react under pressure, who you prioritize, whether you lead or support, and if you're someone people trust with secrets. The show's characters cluster into four archetypes that repeat across five seasons, regardless of plot. Your answers map to one of them.
Five seasons, same archetypes
Mike, Dustin, Max, Steve, Hopper, Joyce — they slot into roles that persist even as the danger escalates. This quiz identifies which role belongs to you.
Behavioral, not aesthetic
Your result isn't based on whether you like D&D or wear leather jackets. It's based on how you actually move through relationships when stakes are real.
Weird happens to everyone
The quiz doesn't assume you have psychokinesis. It tests where you'd stand if the Upside Down showed up in your town tonight.

Frequently asked
Why are there only four types when Stranger Things has way more characters?
The show cycles through the same four roles: the person who leads, the person who observers and gathers info, the person who protects others, and the person who breaks the rules. Every character from Eleven to Eddie slots into one of those four, even though they express it differently. Steve and Hopper are both Protectors but they look nothing alike.
I got [result] but I relate more to [other character]. What's going on?
Character identification and archetype are different things. You might see yourself in Nancy's determination without being the Strategist overall. Take your result as your core type — the one that describes how you move through situations. You can love other characters for reasons beyond 'I am them.'
Does this mean I'm defined by my role forever?
No. The quiz catches how you operate under pressure right now. People shift archetypes across their lives depending on context, who they're with, and what they're carrying. But most of us have a home base — the thing we do when everything else is stripped away.
What's the deal with the Eleven over-selection thing mentioned in the tagline?
Eleven is the most obvious answer to 'which character am I' because she's the protagonist with powers. But she's actually an Observer archetype in terms of how she moves through relationships. Most people who test should hit Protector, Strategist, or Wildcard. If everyone got Eleven, the quiz wouldn't be telling you anything.
